Usage rights & AI provider terms

Last updated: May 1, 2026

Why this page exists

DATA HEDGE is a consent-based archive. You voluntarily upload conversations you exchanged with third-party AI services such as ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, or Gemini. Each of those services has its own Terms of Service that governs how you may export and share that content. Before you upload anything, please confirm that your provider permits the export — those terms take precedence over anything we say.

What you may upload

  • Your own conversation history exported from a service you have an account with.
  • Conversations where you are the sole human party — i.e. you and the AI, no other identifiable people.
  • Content for which the provider's ToS expressly allows export and reuse.

What you may NOT upload

  • Other people's private chats or messages.
  • Conversations obtained by scraping, intercepting, or bypassing authentication on an AI provider.
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Content that violates the AI provider's Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, or other applicable agreements.
  • Content involving minors in any sexual or harmful context, or content that incites violence or harassment.
  • Government IDs, financial credentials, medical records, or similarly sensitive personal data — uploading these deliberately is prohibited even though our cleaner would redact them.

Per-provider terms

The links below point to the most authoritative pages we know of. Providers update these terms regularly, so always check the live version before uploading.

ChatGPT (OpenAI)

OpenAI's terms generally allow you to export and use your own conversations. Review the current Usage Policies for any commercial-use restrictions.

Claude (Anthropic)

Anthropic's consumer terms let you export your data. Review the Acceptable Use Policy before redistributing model outputs.

Grok (xAI)

Grok content is governed by xAI's terms. Confirm your tier (free / Premium / API) permits the export you're sharing.

Gemini (Google)

Google Generative AI Additional Terms apply on top of the main Google Terms. Workspace and personal accounts may have different rules.

How DATA HEDGE handles what you upload

  • We run an automatic privacy-cleaning pass that redacts emails, phone numbers, URLs, API keys, wallet addresses, RRN, credit cards, and seed phrases.
  • Raw uploads stay in a private storage bucket. Routine admins only see the cleaned preview; raw access is reserved for a single super-admin and audited.
  • Cleaned datasets are only used in line with the consent scopes you toggle on in your Settings → Data Sharing Preferences.
  • We never sell raw personal data. We do not train third-party AI models on your raw content.
  • You can request deletion of any individual upload, or of your entire account, at any time. We complete deletions within 30 days.

Your responsibility

By submitting a conversation you represent that you have the right to share it under the AI provider's current Terms of Service and applicable law, and that the content does not contain other people's private information. If those facts change, request deletion via your settings — we will remove it within 30 days.
